It is a disorder caused by decreased production of insulin, or by decreased ability to use insulin. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas which converts blood sugar (glucose) into glycogen for further storage in liver. Without insulin, cells cannot utilize blood sugar. Diabetes results when the pancreas produces insufficient amounts of insulin to meet the body's needs. It can also occur when the pancreas produces insulin, but the cells are unable to efficiently use it (insulin resistance). Insulin is necessary for blood sugar (glucose) to go from the blood to the inside of the cells, and unless the sugar gets into the cells, the body cannot use it. The excess sugar remains in the blood and is then removed by the kidneys.
Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM):- Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM or Type I) usually occurs in people before the age of 30 who requires insulin injections to live.
Noninsulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM):-Noninsulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM or Type II) usually occurs in severely overweight (obese) adults and rarely requires insulin treatment.
Gestational Diabetes Mellitus:- Gestational diabetes starts or is first diagnosed during pregnancy. It occurs during the 24th to 28th weeks of pregnancy. The blood-glucose level returns to normal after delivery.
SYMPTOMS:-
1. Increased thirst
2. Increased urination
3. Weight loss in spite of increased appetite
4. Fatigue, nausea, vomiting
5. Frequent infections including bladder, vaginal, and skin
6. Blurred vision
7. Impotence in men
8. Breath foul odour
9. Cessation of menses
10. In the Later stage, foot gangrene becomes common.
TEST TO BE DONE:-Fasting and Random blood sugar along with glucose tolerance test easily diagnose it. Many other investigations like serum insulin, serum c peptide, Hba1c, serum glucagon, specific antibody test , insulin antibody test, chromosomal study, REFA, ETC
DIFFERENCE IN OLD SYSTEM OF MEDICINE i.e, CONVENTIONAL TREATMENT AND THE MODERN SCIENCE HOMOEOPATHY:- Conventional treatment help in treating the end products of the disease, but the main cause of the disease, ie, the root of the disease remains untouched. Here the doctors can't do anything about the cause. This means the untreated cause is creating limitations in the existing system of medicines, which proclaims these diseases to be incurable {and only controllable}, are due to the reason that it doesn't consider the genetic source and gives no importance to man as a whole. The effect of the disease is taken into consideration and the effect is treated. eg: In high cholesterol, high sugar, high B.P. levels, high uric acid levels, treatment only aims at controlling the levels with drugs and diet control. No, where the genetic tendency to increase in the levels is considered.
Thus they treat the disease in man whereas homoeopathy treats the man in disease. That means all the difference.
HOMOEOPATHIC APPROACH:-
Homoeopathy is based on the principles which are rock solid. The treatment here is directed towards the rectification of the cause and not towards the effect. Homoeopathic science strictly believes that even inflammatory disorders, growths, even destruction in tissues occur with the permission of the individual genetic code. Here the patient is considered as a whole and the cause of the disease, ie, the root is found and is treated with Homoeopathic CONSTITUTIONAL SIMILIMUM. Homoeopathic medicine stimulates the patient's inner system as a whole, which further acts on the diseased organ, to reverse the pathology and the system.
HOMOEOPATHIC TREATMENT:-
This modern science works on the genetic level of a patient, and we all know that each and every expression of the body is governed by genetics. If the body is not forming insulin or cells are unable to utilize it, it means something in genetics is going wrong. Insulin lowers blood sugar by allowing it to leave the bloodstream and enter the cell. Everyone needs insulin. People with type- I diabetes cannot make their own insulin. People with Type II diabetes make insulin but are not able to use it effectively.
when we prescribe a right constitutional similimum to the patient, first of all, it controls the increased blood sugar level along with stimulating the beta cells so that they become able to secrete insulin as required. Homoeopathy does not believe in only controlling the sugar level but the emphasis is on the permanent and complete cure of diabetes. The cells which are unable to use insulin, are stimulated in such a way that they start taking insulin and utilize it for converting extra glucose into glycogen and its storage in the liver for further requirement.
It is only possible because homoeopathy treats the man in disease not the disease in man.
